We are delighted to be hosting a special online event with Dr Hermann Hauser KBE, one of the world’s most renowned and decorated entrepreneurs, scientists and venture capital investors. He is one of the fathers of the British tech industry, in which he remains a major player. He founded Acorn Computers, dubbed the “British Apple” in 1978 and developer of the iconic ‘BBC Micro’, whose subsidiary, ARM Holdings, has grown into the UK’s largest and most successful technology company, and was purchased in 2016 by SoftBank Group for £24 billion, the largest tech acquisition ever from Europe and at the time the largest ever investment from Asia into the UK. ARM is the world’s leading microprocessor technology supplier and its designs are at the heart of nearly every smartphone. Dr Hauser is also the co-founder and venture partner of Amadeus Capital Partners, a leading venture capital firm focussed on tech, through which he continues to play a large role in Britain’s Cambridge-based tech industry. He will be discussing some fascinating topical issues around “How to navigate the rise of Artificial Intelligence & what does it mean?” as well as answering your questions. Hauser was also elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2012 – his nomination reads: Distinguished as a science-based innovator and serial-entrepreneur whose ventures have been at the forefront of UK innovation. A major contributor to the global technology and growth agendas and an influential member of senior policy making bodies. An inspiration and role-model for generations of entrepreneurs who has been directly involved in many companies, providing enthusiasm, mentoring, and financing leading to technology based wealth creation at scale.
